The Discobolus or "the disc thrower" is one of the most iconic pieces of the classical era. It was originally sculpted in bronze by a Greek sculptor Myron, but was later replicated by Romans in marble. This sculpture is famous as it captures the harmony and balance of an athlete who is just about to release a disc.
